Deep Bay, BC is a historical fishing community established in the mid 1800's. The bay offered a deep and protected anchorage for small and large vessels, which gave rise to a well established fish cannery. Even though the cannery has long been removed, the fishing tradition continues to this day with rich sports fishing opportunities in nearby waters.

Yet, Deep Bay is more than just fishing: it is home to well known artists, restaurants, wonderful local markets and some fabulous golf courses. Deep Bay has beautiful, tranquil beaches and there are plenty of trails and hikes nearby and a myriad of wild birds, seals and at times, sea lions, dolphins, orcas and whales.

Other water related activities enjoyed by the locals and tourists on Vancouver Island include sailing, kayaking, canoeing, scuba diving. Sailing classes are provided during the summer months. Check with the Deep Bay Yacht Club for further information.

There is also a public and private marina, where charter fishing boats and scuba diving charter operate, a boat launch ramp, a campground and other public facilities. Also located at the marina is the Ship & Shore, a full service grocery store and cafe: Excellent fish chowders, fish & chips, gas bar for boats.

Tourists are drawn to wonderful Deep Bay by its mild climate, natural beauty, locals’ friendly nature and availability of outdoor activities. Deep Bay on British Columbia's Vancouver island is a fantastic destination year-round for your next vacation!
